- Yes, a lot of groups are mostly just spam, but there are some great groups with lots of engagement that are great places to learn and help others
- When you’re on Facebook as a page, you’re at a disadvantage, you can’t engage as a person but when you’re in a group, you can engage as a person
- It’s sort of like inbound marketing, you’re just doing it in a group, and you’re doing it on a more personal and authentic level
- You can create a new community with notifications, and once you’ve invested in creating that, you have a better chance of getting seen
- A group is a freemium model, it’s a unique thing you can do where you get notifications, but on Facebook it’s great because we spend so much time there
- I’m going to be launching a new community called Social Media Center of Excellence, and it’s going to be a paid community, but there will be a free part of the site
- The freemium part of the site will be a Facebook group, where I can start to promote the presence, where I can funnel people, where there’s an ROI, where there’s an opt-in
- Now the challenge is, who do you invite? I’m acquiring email addresses from people who are interested and want more information
- The rules and expectations have been made clear, and now it’s time to ramp up the engagement
- The benefit now is that I’m creating a very personal group – don’t forget that Facebook is our most personal network
- Facebook groups are an effective way to build more brand awareness and engagement from a community
